East West Centre organizes training courses on healthy, natural and sustainable living at various locations. The organization can use all the helping hands at their training center in Orval. You will work in the organic garden (on the meadows, in the food forests, etc.) and/or help with other tasks that keep the center running (in the kitchen, small chores, daily housekeeping, etc.). This way you can experience this beautiful, quiet place in nature while you learn about plants, gardening and permaculture. A pleasant immersive experience in the middle of extensive deciduous forests and meadows that you can explore further during free moments. Highly recommended for those who like to immerse themselves in peace, quiet and nature!
Volunteer work
The work will consist of ecological work in the meadows and food forests, including: harvesting, planting, weeding, turning compost, mulching, etc. You will also perform maintenance tasks and household chores, including: helping with cooking, small chores and cleaning.
Accommodation
You will stay in the training center itself and share a room with another volunteer (double rooms with two separate beds). You are requested to bring your own sleeping bag or bed sheets. The menu includes 3 delicious organic, vegan meals with local products every day. In addition, volunteers are requested to bring good working clothes (including gloves and working shoes), a raincoat and swimwear.
Leisure
As a volunteer you work approximately 8 hours a day in and around the center. As a group, you can spend the remaining sparetime as you like, for example, for a trip to a surrounding town.
Travel
You are expected to travel to Florenville station by yourself. Someone from the East West Center will pick up all the volunteers there. On the last day of the volunteer trip you will also be dropped off there.
You arrange the travel to your project yourself. IBO asks all volunteers to travel in the most sustainable way possible, so preferably by train or bus. What you at least can do, is compensate your CO2 emissions. You can find more information about this on the website of Milieu Centraal. You can also compensate your emissions via IBO, by donating to our partner’s tree planting project in Uganda. You can read more about that here.
Preparation
IBO offers a good preparation for your volunteering work abroad. You will receive a digital information package and an invitation to a preparation meeting. Read more about the proces from departure until return.

For this project you pay €50 registration fee and €89 participation fee. If you become an IBO-supporter, you don't have to pay the registration fee.
