1. How does IBO-Nederland deal with the COVID-19 pandemic?
IBO-Nederland is proactive and follows the guidelines of the RIVM and WHO. We also monitor the measures in our project countries and stay in touch with our IBO network and the project organizations to be informed about the latest developments. We communicate changes in circumstances personally with the involved volunteers and share general updates on the news page on our website.
2. Can I register for a project?
Yes, you can register for every project on our website. Both IBO and the project organizations are happy to know you want to volunteer!
Contrary to normal procedures, you do not need to pay the participation fee right away. Once we are certain that your project can continue, we ask you to pay this fee.
In addition, we ask you to wait with booking your travel to the project country until it is sure that the project will take place.
3. Can I contact IBO before registering?
Yes, of course you can! IBO-Nederland is available every working day e-mail: info@ibo-nederland.org or phone: +3124-3226074.
Visiting the office is unfortunately not possible right now. Would you still like to meet with someone? Feel free to contact us to organize a video call.
4. What about paying the project fees?
We ask you to wait with paying the participation fee until it is certain that your project will take place. We will contact you about this.
5. Can I travel to the project country?
IBO closely monitors which countries are accessible and safe.
It is not always possible to travel to the project country (for example due to war and the Corona pandemic). You can however still register, so that we know you are interested in a specific project. We will follow the developments and keep you updated with the possibilities.
You can register for every project on the website. In case it turns out to not be possible to travel to your project, you will of course not have to pay the participation fee. We will then discuss with you if you would prefer to go to another project or cancel your registration.
Pay attention: you are, just as normally, responsible for organizing your travel. IBO-Nederland cannot be held accountable for (potential issues during) your travel. If you encounter problems, we are of course happy to try to help you to find solutions.
6. How do I know what the situation in my project country is like?
You can visit the website of the ministery of foreign affairs to gain insight in the current situation. IBO also monitors the situation per country, amongst others by this website and through contact with our international network and the project organizations.
Information regarding (the possibility of) international air travel you can find here at the IATA website.
7. How can I help?
Thank you for asking!
Your help as a volunteer is needed in our projects. We appreciate knowing who we can count on if the projects can take place. So: register as a volunteer!
