The NGO 'Aid the Needy' was founded near Oyugis in Kenya to support society with development issues. This organization is located in the middle of nature and aims to work together with the community to ensure that they can better provide for their livelihood. They do this by ensuring that their capacity is increased and poverty is reduced through sustainable and realistic small-scale development initiatives with a focus on sustainability. The organization focuses on various topics, such as water and sanitation, primary education, alternative energy sources, healthcare, increasing food security and strengthening opportunities for youth and women. You can contribute to this organization in countless ways. In consultation we can see where your talents would be useful.
Work
This project requires hands to support the construction of classrooms (St Benedete Junior School), a care center (Apida Community Hospital), a wall to protect the Atela Community Health Center, sanitary facilities and a 'cold house' at the fishing lake. In addition, there are countless other opportunities to contribute to the local community through this organization. For example, volunteers can help with work in the fields, teach at schools (for special education) and in training centers, guide young people and (provided training and skills are appropriate) work in healthcare. Volunteers can also work on food security projects in the agricultural sector. Contact us to look at all the possibilities to work in Kenya.
The constructionwork may consist of:
- Producing bricks with local soil and water
- Laying a foundation
- Building and plastering walls
- Sawing wood for the roof construction
- Installing a roof on the buildings
- Painting the buildings
