Living Lab: Shaping the future together in Vienna

The cultural NGO initiative 'Rooming Inn' was launched in 2023 to actively shape public space for a gender-equal, sustainable and beautiful future. Their new project – the activation of a vacant kindergarten from the 1950s – aims to create a living laboratory that discovers and shows what a 'good life' requires. In the future, timber construction must be freely accessible to people of all generations. In collaboration with artists, other initiatives and organizations, Rooming Inn offers a free cultural, recreational and educational program. The aim is to create a safe and innovative space where encounters with other generations, new ideas and impulses are possible.

During the project, the house and garden are made beautiful and safe, so that people with a wide variety of needs feel welcome and comfortable here in the future. This feeling is the basis of the project. In the spirit of the 'Living Lab', all participants are also cordially invited to help shape the steps that are actually carried out. The goal is to design a space for the common good that is as high-quality and innovative as possible.
