When you are in an international workcamp, we expect you to be willing to work six to eight hours a day, five days a week. The kind of work depends on the project you have registered for. This can be construction, ecological, or social work, or a combination of different activities. The activities and goals of the project organization are explained in the project description.
Group size
We aim to recruit at least one Dutch volunteer per project. Depending on the number of places available, up to four Dutch volunteers can go to the same project. The total group size varies per project. The project description states the maximum number of (international) volunteers that a project can receive.
If you are going to a project with a group, the (minimum and maximum) group size will be agreed with you - this is separate from the above projects for which you can register as an individual volunteer.
Accommodation & meals
The accommodation varies per project. Sometimes you sleep at the project location itself, sometimes in a village further down the road. You can end up in a dorm, a tent or a single room (and everything in between). More information about this can be found in the project description.
Meals are also arranged differently for each project. In some projects you only have to join as a volunteer, other organizations give the volunteer group a budget for groceries and a kitchen for cooking.
(Technical) supervision
The work is supervised by a local project coordinator. You will receive all necessary contact details before departure.
Cultural exchange
Regardless of the context of your trip, cultural exchange and contact with the local population play an important role in all projects. Things may not go as you expected. The trip may take a little longer than planned, the work may need to be adjusted or the group may be different than you thought. In any case, it is important that you are flexible and open to the experience. Enjoy everything that is different and immerse yourself in a different culture.
Sharing your experience
