Help build a sustainable future for the local community around Oyugis

The project

During this project you will be visting a community organisation named Aid the Needy close to Oyugis in Kenya. This organisation is located in an area surrounded by nature and its goal is to work together with the community and make sure that they can gain a sustainable livelihood. They do this to make sure that their capacity is built and poverty is decreased by creating sustainable and relastic small-scale development initiatives. The organisation focuses on various subjects, like water and sanitation, basic education, alterative energy sources, basic healthcare, food security and the empowerment of youth and women. This project is available year-round on a tailor-made basis and for groups.

Volunteer work

Within this project three classrooms need to be built with local materials and local professionals that can be supported by volunteers. The work will consist of:

  • Brick making using local soil and water with molders
  • Laying the foundation stone
  • Laying wall bricks
  • Sawing timber for roofing
  • Roofing of the classrooms
  • Painting of the classrooms

There are a ton of other options to do volunteerwork at this Community-based Organisation. There are health facilities, schools for special needs children, vocational training centers, and food security projects in the agricultural sector. Contact us to discuss the possibilities to engage in any of these programs.
