The project
At "VinziRast am Land," formerly homeless people find a home and meaningful work. Working the soil with their own hands, sowing seeds, planting seedlings, harvesting the harvest, and experiencing how things grow and flourish strengthens self-esteem. Long-forgotten skills are rediscovered in a supportive community and with professional support. Not far from Vienna, a former hotel offers the ideal infrastructure for this very project: spacious cultivated fields, meadows, and woods, communal areas, small living units, workshops, seminar rooms, and guest rooms. The project aims to become self-sufficient in the long term through the sale of eggs and vegetable crates, catering, and room rentals. And the help of volunteers is invaluable! At this project, we would like to install and furnish a vintage shop, replace the chicken coop fence, create barrier-free access from the parking lot to the entrance, and carry out various renovations on the site.
Volunteer work
Volunteers are expected to contribute to woodwork, carpentry, general renovation work, gardening and landscaping, and other tasks on the property. There's plenty to do!

IBO asks all volunteers to travel in the most sustainable way possible, so preferably with public transport. Sometimes travelling by plane is inevitable. We kindly suggest to compensate your CO2 emissions. You can find more information about this on the website of Milieu Centraal. You can also compensate your emissions through IBO, by donating to our partner’s tree planting project in Uganda. You can read more about that here.
