Contribute in the care of youngsters with a mild intellectual disability & behavioral problems.
De Beele is one of the locations of Pluryn, a national care institution for people with complex problems. Pluryn supports people in increasing opportunities for a full, rich and independent place in society. Their own strengths and future wishes are the starting point. De Beele is an orthopedagogical treatment center with specialist treatments in Voortst and Klarenbeek for youngsters with mild intellectual disabilities and behavioral problems between the ages of 12 and 21. The youngsters live in groups at De Beele and from there they go to school, internship or work. There is plenty to do in their free time. What do we want to achieve together? That these young people can later participate in society as normally as possible.

Volunteer work
Location de Beele has a 'handyman service' that, together with young people, takes on small jobs on the site. During the Ascension weekend, the handyman service, together with volunteers (and the young people who want to), wants to renovate and make as many gardens as possible at the living groups cozy. Funds are being raised to make this possible and the young people can indicate themselves what they want to adjust in the garden of their living group, such as assembling a pre-fab shed, a lounge area or picnic table or making and planting extra planters. All the work will take place in consultation with and under the supervision of permanent employees. There will be a permanent contact person, in addition to the project leader of the handyman service. All in all, renovating the gardens can play an important role in creating a positive and supportive environment for young people who find themselves in vulnerable situations. It can contribute to their sense of self-esteem, comfort and connectedness, and promote their well-being during their stay in the living group.
Accommodation
The volunteers sleep in a lodge at the nature campsite De Haverkamp nearby, De Beele provides transport and/or bicycles. The volunteers have breakfast in the lodge. Lunch and dinner are provided by the group that is working at that time. The volunteers are requested to bring their own sleeping bag and possibly a pillow, as well as sportswear and work clothes that can get dirty while working in the gardens.

- It is mandatory to bring a Certificate of Good Conduct to this project! You can arrange this for free through IBO.
