Projects
Most volunteers participate in summer-projects for approximately three weeks in teams of 6 - 15 people, depending on the project’s requirements.
They commit themselves to work 40 hours a week without getting payed. They also pay a part of the campcosts themselves. IBO takes care of travel and insurance.
Though the majority of these volunteers does not have any (technical) experience, they perform surprisingly well, given a good technical guidance and - of course - a suitable project.
The volunteers stay on site at the workcamps in available -simple! - accommodation or tents. The meals are generally prepared by the groups themselves. Jobs on the building site and household chores are distributed through mutual consultation, taking local possibilities and the wishes of the participants into consideration.
IBO engages approximately 1500 volunteers each year. The volunteers must be at least 18 years old and prepared to respect other values and mentalities. A good physical and mental health is necessary. The majority of participants do not know each other before leaving on a camp. This means that everyone must be prepared to help the others and actively participate in every aspect of camplife ‘for better or worse”.
